A man has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after a car crashed into shop in Brighton late on Friday night (1 May).
Two parked cars were damaged in the crash and the shop has been left unable to open and awaiting a survey to check for structural damage.
Sussex Police said that the crash happened in Mackie Avenue, Patcham, near the corner of The Deeside, shortly after 11pm on Friday.
Witnesses said that a new Porsche crashed, having damaged other cars shortly before the crash that caved in a shopfront.
It left significant damage to the front of Premier Supermarket and News, a convenience store and off-licence at 140 Mackie Avenue.
Sussex Police said: “Police are investigating after a car was in collision with a shop in Mackie Avenue, Brighton, at 11.12pm on Friday night (1 May).
“The driver, a 29-year-old local man, has been arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs and failing to stop after a road traffic accident.
“Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage to email collision.appeal@sussex.police.uk, quoting serial 1865 of 01/05.”
