A Brighton MP has written to Post Office bosses urging them to replace a branch that closed in February.
Simon Kirby, the Conservative MP for Brighton Kemptown, has also written to constituents about the matter.
Mr Kirby said: “I am conscious of the importance of a local post office, particularly for elderly residents who may find it harder to travel.”
The Vale Post Office in Lustrells Vale, Saltdean, closed on Tuesday 22 February because the subpostmaster resigned and withdrew the premises from Post Office use.
Mr Kirby has asked Post Office Ltd to restore the service which is most likely to mean finding alternative premises.
He said: “While I welcome the assurances I have received from Post Office Ltd that they are actively working to provide a service tailored to local circumstances, the fact is the Vale Post Office has now been closed for a number of months.
“I have therefore written to Post Office Ltd pressing them to restore an appropriate post office service for the area and stressing the need for a swift resolution to the problem.
“I will continue to monitor this situation closely and will work for a speedy resolution to this issue for residents.”
