Four people have been bailed over a shooting near Queen’s Park in Brighton.
Sussex Police said: “Police are still appealing for information as the investigation into gunshots heard in the East Drive area of Queen’s Park, Brighton, on Sunday 4 August, continues.
“Following extensive inquiries and with the assistance of the Met, a 21-year-old man of no fixed address, who was sought in connection with the incident, was arrested in Croydon on Saturday night (10 August) on suspicion of possession of a firearm.
“He has since been released on police bail with strict conditions until 5 September.
“A 22-year-old woman from Brighton, who was also arrested at the same time on suspicion of assisting an offender, has been released under investigation pending further inquiries.
“A 24-year-old man from East Grinstead was arrested in Godstone, Surrey, on Sunday afternoon (11 August) on suspicion of assisting an offender.
“He has been released under investigation pending further inquiries.
“A 42-year-old woman from Brighton, arrested on Monday 5 August on suspicion of assisting an offender and failing to comply with conditions of a shotgun certificate, remains released on conditional bail pending further inquiries.
“A firearm believed to have been involved is still being sought.”
Superintendent Julia Pope said: “Arrests have been made following extensive inquiries and I thank the public for their understanding in this sensitive policing operation.
“The incident involved individuals known to one another and, although there was no information to suggest a risk to the wider public, we have ensured additional high-visibility patrols in the area to provide reassurance.”
