As a result, Mayberry garden centre manager Mark Brumfitt handed over a cheque for £3,391 to two Lions Club representatives.
The money – raised this year at the family-owned garden centre in Old Shoreham Road – will be spent on community projects for people in need.
Mr Brumfitt handed over the funds to Brighton Lions president Bob Brown and Susan Saunders from the Adur East Lions.
He thanked customers for their generosity and said: “You can support the Lions by popping in to our coffee shop in the Old Shoreham Road.
“Just buy a second-hand book from our charity book sales area and know that all the money raised is spent on local good causes.”
