Tottenham Hotspur 1 Brighton & Hove Albion 0
Albion lost narrowly to Spurs as a goal on 88 minutes from Christian Eriksen eluded Maty Ryan.
Tottenham will have never celebrated a goal against Brighton and Hove Albion more vigorously.
The Seagulls had defended just as stoutly as they did at Wolves, with Ryan making a string of fine saves and Lewis Dunk and Shane Duffy repelling all that Spurs could throw at them.
Son Heung-Min and Dele Alli worked so hard to break Albion down but it was the Seagulls who had the clearest chance as Pascal Gross swung in a cross that Duffy planted wide.
Beram Kayal, on as a substitute, fizzed a long-distance effort just over.
Eriksen’s goal was well taken on the turn but it was only after that point that Albion attacked Spurs.
Right at the end substitute Solly March cut in from the right and saw his shot go narrowly wide.
To stave off the threat of relegation, Albion will now have to find a way to beat Newcastle at the Amex on Saturday (27 April) in the 5.30pm kick off.
