Albion lost an FA Cup semi-final for the first time in the club’s history.
A Gabriel Jesus goal after just three minutes put City through to the final.
Brighton didn’t suffer a thrashing though and took the game to City.
Anthony Knockaert and Davy Propper both had chances to equalise for Albion.
Despite the result, the players could hold their heads high.
Albion’s best chance came from a corner, as Shane Duffy got his head the the ball , but with the goal gaping Glenn Murray somehow scooped his effort over the bar albeit with several City defenders in close attendance.
The Seagulls tried so hard to break down City, but it wasn’t until the last ten minutes or so that the Albion really caused City some problems. But the Seagulls could just not penetrate a resolute City defence.
The Albion return to Premier League action next Saturday against Bournemouth at the Amex.
