A fire at the old Westows children’s soft play premises is being treated as suspicious.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said that it took over an hour to tackle the blaze, in School Road, Hove.
The fire service said: “East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service have left the scene of a fire at a derelict building in School Road in Hove.
“We were called just before 4pm on (Sunday) 24 March.
“Four fire engines and an aerial ladder were called to the scene.
“Eight breathing apparatus, main jets and hose reel jets were used.
“No injuries have been reported.
“The ‘stop’ message was sent at 5.20pm, confirming the fire was out.
“The fire is being treated as suspicious.”
The property’s owner, Hyde housing association, had been expected to start demolition work soon.
Hyde plans to build 104 homes at the site – known as the Westerman complex – and hopes that all the properties will be classed as “affordable”.
