Detectives have issued CCTV images of two men who robbed the Co-op store in Lustrells Vale, Saltdean, yesterday lunchtime.
The image shows the two men who threatened security staff before leaving with a cash box containing several thousand pounds.
A man, wearing a motorcycle helmet, entered the store and confronted two security guards delivering cash to the cash machine.
He threatened one of the guards with a handgun and grabbed a cash box.
An accomplice drove a motorcycle on to the pavement outside the store and went inside armed with a crowbar.
The two security guards were ordered out to their van and the man, armed with the handgun, tried to get into the van.
The female security officer inside the van activated the alarm and the two men left on the back on a motorcycle.
DS Julie Greenwood said: “Although the security guards were threatened with a firearm they were not injured.
“There were a number of people seen entering this store who we would like to trace along with anyone who saw a black motorcycle in the area being driven suspiciously with a rider and pillion passenger.
“The rider of the motorcycle was wearing a black sweat top and dark jogging bottoms and a black helmet.
“The other man was dressed in jeans, a black jacket and wore a red and white motorcycle helmet.”
