After winning Best New Play at the 2018 Brighton Fringe, Rosy Carrick brings her high-octane and highly emotional Passionate Machine back to The Old Market in Hove on March 17th for a hometown show as part of a UK tour.
Funny, poignant, and at times shocking, the show sees Rosy enlisting some of science’s greatest minds in order to build a time machine and rescue her future self, who has become stuck 100 years in the past following her own time travelling misadventures. If that doesn’t sound mind-bending enough, the play also moves between multiple narratives, combining real-life events and sci-fi in a playful blurring of fact and fiction. Arnold Schwarzenegger, David Bowie, #metoo and Russian revolutionary poetry all feature along the way.
Part of The Old Market’s Reigning Women season, celebrating work by “kick-ass women in all their glory”, this is the only chance to catch Passionate Machine in Brighton before the show travels to New York later in the year.
Passionate Machine, The Old Market, Hove, 17 March 2019. Tickets: http://theoldmarket.com/shows/passionate-machine/
Would recommend this show so much! The scene where she has the romance with Arnold Schwarzenegger is the stuff my dreams are made of!
