An NHS finance chief in Brighton has run 1,000 miles and raised more than £1,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Emma Dallos, head of finance at Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust (SCFT) is celebrating raising £1,060 over the past 12 months.
She said: “At the beginning of 2018 I set myself a goal to run 1,000 miles to celebrate the 70th birthday of the NHS and to raise money for Macmillan.
“I wanted to give something back to Macmillan to thank them for all the invaluable support they gave me when both my parents were diagnosed with terminal cancer.”
During the year she ran the Brighton half marathon, Brighton marathon, Gatwick half marathon, Reigate half marathon, Bright10 and the Great South Run.
She also completed park runs in Copenhagen and Belfast while on holiday and completed her 1,000 mile on New Year’s Eve.
She added: “I was surprised that my husband and friends came out to meet me at the ‘finish line’ with champagne and flowers. What a great way to finish off the year.”
Sussex Community Foundation Trust is based at Brighton General Hospital and provides health services in hospitals, clinics, GP surgeries and people’s homes across Sussex.
