A judge on the run from justice has been arrested while teaching students from Brighton and Hove.
Antonia Ilia, 52, of Portland Road, Hove, was arrested by officers from Sussex Police acting on a tip-off from Interpol.
She was wanted for her role in a trial-fixing ring and had been sentenced to almost seven years in jail.
The fugitive judge was arrested at City College Brighton and Hove in Pelham Street, Brighton, where she was teaching French to adults.
On her arrest Ilia pretended to be a French citizen called Antonia Jamin but at her Hove flat police found a Greek identity card, passport and driving licence in her name. They also matched her fingerprints.
She faces extradition and was refused bail when she appeared at City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court.
Ilia went on the run more than four years ago and was sentenced to prison in her absence last year.
