A nine-year-old boy suffered serious head injuries when he was hit by a moped in Brighton.
The rider didn’t stop – and Sussex Police issued CCTV images this morning (Tuesday 18 September) as part of their investigation.
The force said: “Police have released CCTV footage of a moped which collided with a child on a scooter in Brighton.
“The nine-year-old boy was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital with serious head injuries following the incident, which occurred in Whitehawk Road about 12.15pm on Sunday (16 September).
“The rider of the moped, who had a pillion passenger and was travelling south, failed to stop at the scene.
“The vehicle, which is believed to be stolen, is described as silver and black or dark red, and is suspected to have some damage as a result of the impact.
“Police are continuing to carry out covert and overt operations in Brighton and Hove, targeting known motorcycle thieves, and in recent weeks have made a number of arrests. This is as a result of listening to concerns in the community.
“Anyone with any information about the collision is asked to report it online or call 101, quoting serial 502 of 16/09.
“Alternatively, you can visit the Crimestoppers website or contact the independent charity anonymously on 0800 555111.”
