A man suffered a broken jaw after being attacked in a busy Brighton street in broad daylight, Sussex Police said today (Friday 17 August).
The force said: “Police are appealing for witnesses after a man suffered a fractured jaw following a Brighton assault.
“The man was walking past the Clock Tower, Brighton, around 1pm on Saturday 28 July when he was approached from behind.
“The victim, a man in his mid-thirties, was then punched in the face, causing a fractured jaw and other facial injuries.”
Detective Constable Paul Heal said: “This was a particularly nasty assault which left the victim with serious facial injuries.
“Unfortunately, the victim did not see the suspect but we are hoping that because it happened in broad daylight at a busy time, someone would have seen the incident.
“We are urging anyone who witnessed the assault to come forward to us and aid us with our investigation.”
Sussex Police added: “To report information please go online or call 101, quoting reference 752 of 28/07.
“Alternatively, you can visit the Crimestoppers website or contact the independent charity anonymously on 0800 555111.”
Why is always so far after the event that the “Police are appealing for witnesses” ?…….
I’ve got no idea what is happening to Brighton at the moment, the police appealing for witnesses weeks after the event took place is absolutely atrocious.
It doesn’t help when you got the same PCSO’s doing the same beat either. Brighton needs more fully trained police on the beat instead of a plastic copper who only has stop and search powers.
