You know that German synth pioneers Kraftwerk have ‘conveniently forgotten’ their very early albums ‘Kraftwerk’ (1970), ‘Kraftwerk 2’ (1972) and ‘Ralf Und Florian’ (1973) and that they now count their year zero as the awesome ‘Autobahn’ (1974) album, well if you happen to enjoy those three early ‘lost’ albums, then Bitchin Bajas are certainly for you!
Bitchin Bajas comprise of American trio Cooper Crain, Rob Frye and Dan Quinlivan and they are currently on their ‘sensory journey through all paths that guide them’ – that’s on tour to you and me!
They are floating into Brighton on Monday 14th May at Bau Wow, which is located at 77 East Street, Brighton BN1 1NF. Note it is at Bau Wow and not at the Hope and Ruin as originally advertised.
Bitchin Bajas have shared a hypnotic performance on Adult Swim’s Fishcenter Live; breathing fresh new life into the body and rejuvenating the soul. Watch their performance of ‘Chokayo’, taken from their recent album ‘Bajas Fresh’ which was mastered in Abbey Road and it’s out on Drag City Records.
Support on the night will come from Brighton based trio Merlin Tonto, who are Owen Thomas (electronics), Miles Boyd (bass) and Steffan Eliades (drums). They merge the sounds of the contemporary dance floor with decidedly human sounding percussion and bass, as if Carl Craig visited Cologne ’72. Recalling at various times Factory Floor, ESG and Leftfield, It’s all done in their idiosyncratic way, the music is never in a hurry to get anywhere, their restraint meaning the joy is as much in the journey as the destination.
