City bike shops have been warned to be on their guard after a bicycle thief escaped from Ford Prison.
Brighton and Hove police tweeted the warning about Andrew Hollidge, 29, this morning, saying he is believed to be in Brighton.
They added: “Cycle shops are particularly advised to be vigilant as he steals cycles under the ruse of test riding them.”
Anyone with information should call 101 quoting reference 0983 13/03/2018.
Hollidge was jailed in July last year at Lewes Crown Court for a string of burglaries and bike thefts, including stealing bikes from Rayment Cycles in Circus Parade and Baker Street Bikes in York Place, Brighton.
He was also sentenced for burgling several Brighton businesses including Eten and Drinken Cafe in Church Street, Orchid Beauty Salon and Cash Converters in London Road, Brightrock Games and the Brighthelm Centre from April to June last year.
Hollidge, of no fixed abode, was also jailed for stealing bikes from Cycle Brighton in Hove and TMS Bikes in Worthing in 2016.
