A Brighton man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
Jonathan Wenham, 40 of Ridgeside Avenue, Patcham, was charged yesterday (Tuesday 5 April) with causing the death of Nicholas Messenger, 28.
Mr Messenger, of Old Kent Road, London, died after a crash in the centre of Brighton in January.
Mr Wenham was driving a light blue BMW which crashed into a tree in Grand Parade, near the junction with Morley Street.
Mr Messenger was one of three passengers in the car when the accident happened early on Friday 21 January.
The crash happened near the Ocean Rooms and across the road from Barfly, formerly the Gloucester.
Wenham has also been charged with driving with excess alcohol, making a false statement to obtain insurance and failing to stop.
He has been bailed to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 21 April.
