The tired Brighton Centre will not be redeveloped for at least another three years, The Argus reports today.
Plans for a revamp were first launched in March 2007, when a £250 million scheme was hatched, to include a four or five star hotel and an extension to the Churchill Centre.
By August the same year, the price tag had risen to £400 million, with an estimated completion date of 2012.
But in January last year, it became clear work would not even have started by then, when the centre accepted bookings for the GMB union conference the same year.
New bookings are now said to be about to be taken for autumn 2012 and 2013 – and it’s believed the two-year rebuilding programme may not even start until 2015.
