Brighton’s very own Lost Horizons set to return in September

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: “Lost Horizons are really sorry to announce that they’ve had to re-schedule their upcoming UK and Italian shows which includes the Brighton date originally on April 18. All tickets remain valid and refunds available at point of purchase”.

After selling out the Rialto Theatre last year, (view our Brighton & Hove News review here) the new project of Cocteau Twins and Bella Union boss Simon Raymonde, and Dif Juz and Jesus and Mary Chain musician Richie Thomas, have announced that they are going out on tour again in support of their critically acclaimed debut album ‘Ojalá’. This time it takes in an even bigger show located at the Komedia (Main Space) in Brighton on Monday 17th September (doors 7:30pm).

‘Ojalá’, is a rare sighting of two gifted musicians who, for different reasons, have been largely absent from music-making for the last 20 years. Yet the record is proof of a telepathic relationship through music, established when the pair first became collaborators and friends in the eighties.

For the live incarnation of the band, Lost Horizons will include three vocalists: Ed Riman aka Hilang Child and Beth Cannon, both of whom appear on the album, as well as Helen Ganya Brown who records under the alias Dog In The Snow. Chris Anderson of Crayola Lectern and Asya Fairchild of Blush complete this very special live musical incarnation.

Together, the Lost Horizons ensemble has created an hour of exquisite, expansive and diverse spellcasting, from facets of soul, to dreamier invocations like ‘She Led Me Away’ and Ojalá’s lengthiest trip, ‘The Engine’. There’s the odd louder, faster detour, like ‘Life Inside A Paradox’, but the dominant mood is a deep, rich melancholia.

“A beautiful, haunted, haunting album; hear it.” – Record Collector

“This is a diverse collection of quality melancholia by two intuitive veterans with nothing to prove except their ability to create music to invest your soul into.” – MusicOMH

There will be special guests on the night and tickets for the Komedia show are £12 + booking fee / £16 on the door.
