A Hove man has been charged with robbing three banks in the past fortnight and was due to appear in court this morning (Thursday 10 March).
Clifford Hellier, 56, of Queen Victoria Avenue, Hove, was due to appear before Brighton magistrates after his arrest in Western Road, Brighton, yesterday.
He was charged this morning with the robbery of
- the NatWest bank in Church Road, Hove, on Tuesday 8 March
- the Co-operative Bank in Western Road, Brighton, on Tuesday 1 March
- the Halifax bank in George Street, Hove, on Friday 25 February
The case against another man – Roy Bartup, 57, of Natal Road, Brighton – has been dropped.
He appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Monday 28 February charged with holding up the Halifax branch in George Street, Hove , on Friday 25 February.
He is now no longer a suspect.
