A Hove man has been jailed for 10 weeks after hitting his partner and her mother in the face.
Dean Jackson attacked Paige and Katrina Butterfield in Spring Gardens, Brighton, on Sunday (12 November).
Jackson breached a recently imposed domestic violence prevention order (DVPO) and failed to comply with the supervision requirements put in place after he was released from prison.
Sussex Police said: “A Hove man who admitted assaulting both his partner and her mother while subject to a domestic violence prevention order has been jailed for 10 weeks.
“Dean Stacey Jackson, 30, unemployed, of Brunswick Place, Hove, committed the offences on Sunday (12 November) and shortly afterwards was arrested and charged.
“He appeared before Brighton magistrates on Tuesday (14 November) when the custodial sentence was imposed.
“Jackson was also made the subject of a 12-month restraining order in respect of both victims, aged 23 and 46, and told he must pay £100 compensation and £85 prosecution costs.”
Detective Constable Rich Danton, of the Safeguarding Investigations Unit in Brighton, said that the order against Jackson had been made on Monday 30 October.
He added: “This sentence sends a clear message to perpetrators of domestic violence that their behaviour will not be tolerated and will have serious consequences for them.
“We will follow up with direct action whenever DVPOs are not complied with.”
