The first picture of what is planned for the site of the old Amex Wedding Cake building have been published today.
New homes and offices are interspersed with landscaped areas, including stepped gardens, play areas – and what appears to be an open air cinema.
A series of consultation events have already been held by the Edward Street site’s new owners, First Base and Patron Capital, and more are scheduled this week for residents to have their say on the plans.
The sessions will take place at University of Brighton, Dorset Place, on Wednesday 8 November from 4pm to 8pm and at Millwood Community Centre, Nelson Row, on Saturday 11 November from 10am to 1pm.
Architects BuckleyGreyYeoman and the landscape designers Spacehub will be on hand to help people understand how the plans are being developed and how the site will positively contribute to its surroundings.
Lucinda Mitchell, Project Director at First Base, said: “We are grateful to the residents, community groups and businesses who came to the first consultation event, we have listened and taken on board what residents would like to see for the future.
“From the feedback we received, over three quarters of residents and local stakeholders were in favour of the site bringing forward new homes and workspace.
“We welcome residents to come along on November 8 and 11 to get an update on the emerging plans.”
