Detectives investigating the rape of a teenager in a Hove park have made a fresh appeal for help.
They want to hear from any women who may have been followed or approached after dark in the streets near by in the hours leading up to the rape.
The streets are Dyke Road and Old Shoreham Road near BHASVIC – Brighton, Hove and Sussex VI Form College – by the border of the two towns.
Sussex Police Major Crime Branch officers are trying to trace the man who raped a 17-year-old girl as she walked home from the centre of Brighton.
The attack happened in the early hours of Tuesday (15 February).
Detective Chief Inspector Trevor Bowles, who is leading the inquiry said: “We are very grateful to the many people who have contacted us this week in relation to this awful attack on the teenage victim on Tuesday morning.
“I am very keen to hear from anyone who feels that they have been followed or indeed approached by strangers in the immediate vicinity of the attack on Tuesday 15 February.
“We have built up a detailed picture of the events of that night, and the victim has shown enormous courage in assisting us with this.
“Her attacker is described as being in his late twenties to thirty, with dark short hair.
“He may have some facial hair growth on the side of his face and has large hands.
“We need to find this man and I appeal to anyone who is able to assist us to contact Sussex Police on 0845 6070999.”
