A golf day raised £1,000 for a special school in Brighton – despite the rainy conditions.
The event was organised by a grandparent of two children at Downs View School and Link College along with his colleagues in the Surrey Freemasons.
The challenges were a hole in one competition to win a golfing holiday in Portugal and a crazy golf competition where a number of prizes were on offer.
Mr Gras said: “Two of my grandsons attend Downs View and the progress they are making gives us hope for the future.
“The teachers and support team do a wonderful job and some children have challenging problems but all receive one to one support.
“Every time I visit I am surrounded by smiling children who are clearly in a happy environment.”
Downs View head Adrian Carver said: “The money raised will go towards replacing our two very aged minibuses which are essential in supporting our complex children’s access to the community, for swimming and other activities.
“Thank you so much on behalf of the Downs View children to everyone who helped Nick to make this event such a success.”
The fundraiser took place at the Surrey National Golf Club in Coulsdon.
