A stretch of the A259 coast road has been closed after a serious crash at lunchtime today (Friday 21 July).
Drivers heading to and from Brighton and Hove via Shoreham were being advised to use a different route.
Sussex Police said this afternoon: “A section of the A259 Brighton Road in Shoreham is currently closed due to a serious collision between a truck and a pedestrian.
“Police were called to the incident between Saltings Roundabout and Shoreham High Street at about 1.21pm.
“The pedestrian, a girl believed to be in her teens, has been taken to St George’s Hospital in London by air ambulance.
“A section of the road has been closed in both directions while emergency services are on the scene, and motorists are advised to seek alternative routes.
“Anyone who saw what happened is asked to email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting Operation Grimsby.”
A section of the road reopened at about 4.15pm, Sussex Police said.
