Brighton and Hove Albion are to host Atletico Madrid at the Amex in their final pre-season friendly.
The Seagulls will play Los Rojiblancos – the red and whites – on Sunday 6 August with a 4pm kick-off.
Diego Simeone’s side finished third in La Liga behind champions Real Madrid and runners up Barcelona.
The side – Champions League semi-finalists – includes Fernando Torres, Antoine Griezmann, Tiago and Koke.
As a player Simeone became a boo boy for England fans who blamed him for David Beckham’s sending off against Argentina in the 1998 World Cup quarter-final. England lost on penalties.
He has brought the same brooding intensity to Atletico as a coach.
His side have reached the Champions League final twice in the past four seasons, are due to play Liverpool and Bayern Munich before coming to Brighton.
The club has just played its final season at the riverside Vicente Calderon stadium. It is moving to the bigger Wanda Metropolitano which has a capacity of 74,000 compared to 55,000.
