A low-speed train crash in a depot this morning (Tuesday 23 May) may mean fewer services or shorter trains, Southern said.
The train company said: “Earlier this morning two of our trains were damaged following a low-speed collision within the depot near London Victoria.
“As well as these trains not being able to go into passenger service the depot was closed while this incident thoroughly investigated.
“During this time trains were not able to leave the depot to form passenger services.
“The depot has now reopened and trains are now starting to leave the depot so services will start to resume.
“However, due to many trains being in the wrong place some services will be cancelled and formed of fewer coaches.”
The man effect has been on Gatwick Express services with some Southern services affected. Thameslink trains were not affected. Normal service was expected before the evening rush hour.
