A man in a car smashed a bottle over the head of a cyclist on Hove seafront after a row.
Sussex Police said today (Thursday 11 May): “Police are appealing for further witnesses to a serious assault in Brunswick Terrace, Hove.
“The incident happened at around 4.35pm on Thursday 20 April as the victim, a 29-year-old local man, was cycling along the road.
“As he did so, two men sitting in a silver Vauxhall Insignia shouted out to him and so he went over to the vehicle.
“A dispute broke out between the men and as the victim walked away the suspects climbed out of the vehicle and one of them struck the victim over the head with a glass bottle.
“Both suspects then made off in the vehicle travelling eastbound.
“The victim was treated for a cut to his head at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.
“Two men, aged 22 and 18, from London, were arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent and have been released under investigation.”
Detective Sergeant Chris Lane said: “Although this incident occurred a few weeks ago we are still seeking further information from a number of people who may have witnessed the incident and hold vital information but have not yet come forward.
