An investigation is under way after a basement fire in Brighton this morning (Monday 8 May).
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said that it sent firefighters to a two-storey commercial building in the centre of Brighton at 9.18am.
The fire service said: “Three Brighton appliances, including the aerial ladder platform, were sent to New Road, in Brighton, following reports of a smell of burning, which activated the fire alarm at the property.
“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire using one hose reel jet. No one was injured.”
Earlier, at 1am, the fire service said, “Brighton firefighters were sent to a car fire involving one vehicle which was involved in a collision with railings along Lewes Road, in Brighton.
“No one was reported to be trapped and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one hose reel jet to tackle the fire. The incident was then left with the police and paramedics.”
At 5.40pm yesterday (Sunday 7 May) two Brighton appliances were sent to Elm Grove, in Brighton, after reports of a crash involving two vehicles.
Crews made the vehicles safe and one casualty was left in the care of paramedics.
