The number of sick days taken by Brighton and Hove City Council staff is on the rise.
New figures show the council lost 10.18 days of work per employee in 2009/10, up from 9.99 in 2008/9.
The council has set out plans for a stricter monitoring regime designed to cut down any unnecessary absences and save money spent on overtime and cover staff.
They issue will be up for debate at a meeting of the council’s governance committee at Hove Town Hall, in Norton Road, on Tuesday, February 1.
