The best two chances so far have fallen to Villa, both after mistakes by Seb Pocognoli.
Henri Lansbury managed to head wide from six yards out.
And David Stockdale had to look lively, making two good saves from free kicks.
Albion look lacklustre again but with a title still to play for.
