The Annual Brighton and Hove Junior Schools Swimming Championships took place at the Prince Regent complex this afternoon.
Ten schools competed from all over Brighton and Hove – Saltdean, Aldrington, St John the Baptist, St Bernadette, St Mary Magdalen, Cottesmore, Balfour, Westdene, Stanford and Windlesham. Pupils were competing over a variety of events.
Brighton and Hove mayor Pete West presented the medals. Councillor West said Brighton and Hove was now recognised as the most active city in the country.
Also presenting the medals was Tim Pearce president of the Sussex ASA. He told Brighton and Hove News that he used to swim for St John the Baptist school in Brighton at the North Road baths.
The most successful school at this years championships was Cottesmore from Hove. Their haul of prizes included the girls Holman Cup.
But all the schools involved and all the competitors, staff and organisers should be congratulated on the continued success of this unique event which is now in its 15th year.
