A deputy head teacher faces jail for downloading child porn while working at one of Brighton’s biggest schools.
Ken Browne, 60, was the deputy head of Dorothy Stringer High School in Loder Road, Brighton, until his arrest in July last year.
Browne, of South Row in Blackheath, South East London, has appeared at Lewes Crown Court after he was found to have more than 7,000 pictures.
He admitted six charges of making indecent images of children and six counts of having such images.
The six charges of making indecent images relate to an allegation that he downloaded pictures from the internet and saved them on to a memory stick, according to Sussex Police.
The force said that it did not believe that the pictures had been downloaded at Dorothy Stringer or that any of the pictures were of children at the school.
At the time of his arrest he was also one of 25 British teachers chosen by the Foreign Office as an ambassador for the pupil exchange project British Schools in Europe.
When he returns to court on Thursday 24 February he will learn whether he will keep his freedom or be sent to prison.
