A Portslade man has been banned from the road after being caught with twice as much alcohol in his breath as the legal limit.
Adrian Hemsley, 37, of Burlington Gardens, Portslade, had 72 micrograms in 100 millilitres of breath when he was stopped on the A27 in Lancing on Tuesday 14 February. The legal limit is 35 micrograms in 100 millilitres of breath.
Hemsley, who was driving a grey Honda Civic, was also fined £120, order to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £30.
He pleaded guilty to drink driving when he appeared at Worthing Magistrates’ Courts where he was given a 20-month ban. The duration will be reduced by 20 weeks if he completes a drink drive rehabilitation course.
