A man was bottled from behind leaving him with cuts to his lower back during an attack in the early hours of the morning in central Brighton.
The 36-year-old victim was attacked in Castle Square, Brighton, at 12.45am on Saturday, 14 January. He was taken to hospital for treatment.
A 22-year old man, also from Brighton was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, and after being interviewed was released on police bail until 9 March while enquiries continue.
