A Brighton MP has spoken out in support of plans to make it easier to evict “neighbours from hell”.
Simon Kirby, the Conservative MP for Brighton Kemptown, said that councils and housing associations would be helped by measures announced by Housing Minister Grant Shapps.
Mr Kirby said: “These common sense measures will, I am sure, be welcomed by all those whose lives have been blighted by the anti-social behaviour of neighbours.
“It is simply not acceptable for decent, law-abiding residents to have to suffer at the hands of a small minority.
“That is why I fully support the measures unveiled by Grant which will make it easier for councils and landlords to deal with people who repeatedly engage in antisocial behaviour.”
Courts currently have discretion over whether to grant eviction orders but the changes will mean a proven track record of anti-social behaviour will automatically become grounds for eviction.
