A Brighton fisherman donned his best green dungarees to repair another Brightonian’s matching pair – although Dudley the snowdog’s are made out of fibreglass.
Garth, who builds boats at Brighton Marina, volunteered his services to Martlets Hospice after hearing how Dudley the snowdog had got a bit beaten up while at his post by St Peter’s Church.
He is now going to patch up the pooch ahead of the Snowdogs’ Festive Farewell event this weekend at the Corn Exchange in Church Street.
He said: “I repair fibreglass yachts. The dogs are all made of fibreglass, so it’ll be easy to rebuild them back to full strength. With some sanding I can get him back to full strength.
“It should only take a couple of days, but he’ll need to be re-painted. While he’s being worked on he’ll live amongst the other yachts in my yard!”
A spokeswoman for Martlets, which brought the snowdogs to Brighton and is now auctioning them off to raise money, said: “Garth is a true snowdog hero and we honestly can’t thank him enough.”
