A man has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent after a crash in Portslade last week.
The 27-year-old, from Lancing, was at the wheel of a blue Vauxhall Corsa when it crashed into a fence post in Old Shoreham Road, near Romany Close.
The car left the road and went down the steep bank on the north side of Victoria Recreation Ground until it hit a tree and came to rest.
The driver and his passenger, an 18-year-old woman, also from Lancing, were taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital with serious injuries. Both have since been discharged.
Today (Monday 21 November) Sussex Police appealed to the public for information, asking whether anyone had seen the Vauxhall Corsa in the moments before the crash, close to Southern Cross.
It happened at about 2.45pm last Wednesday (16 November) on the westbound Old Shoreham Road. No other vehicles were involved.
Police want anyone who saw what happened – in particular anyone who has any dash cam footage of the Corsa being driven in the moments before the collision – to get in touch.
Witnesses are asked to phone Sussex Police on 101 or report evidence online at https://sussex.police.uk/contact-us/response-to-appeal, quoting Operation Miramar.
The 27-year-old driver has been bailed until Friday 16 December pending further inquiries.
