A police chase through Brighton and Hove in the early hours of this morning ended in a crash outside the Bat and Ball pub, and a police cells breakfast for four.
The chase began when a silver Vauxhall Corsa failed to stop for police after being spotted in Preston Circus just after 3am. in the early hours of Monday morning (October 31) was eventually brought to a halt 20 minutes later.
It was followed by a police car and started to pick up speed and be driven erratically. It headed towards Portslade and at one point drove off the road before being stopped in Ditchling Road. Two police vehicles sustained damage during the pursuit.
A 32-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested on suspicion of taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent, driving a motor vehicle dangerously and possessing a controlled drug of Class B (cannabis).
A 21-year-old man from Brighton was arrested on suspicion of taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent and being carried in a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent.
An 18-year-old woman from Brighton was arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled drug of Class B (cannabis) and being carried in a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent.
A 21-year-old man from Hove was arrested on suspicion of being carried in a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent.
All four remained in custody on Monday lunchtime.
