A man who stole a charity box from a Brighton supermarket has been jailed.
Sussex Police issued an appeal for information following the theft from Sainsbury’s, in North Road, on 21 September.
The box, which was never recovered, was the property of Rockinghorse, a Brighton-based children’s charity.
On Saturday 8 October, Bavan Ravindra was arrested by the Met Police for an unrelated offence, and identified as the suspect involved in the theft in Brighton.
The 37-year-old, previously of Tichbourne Street, Brighton, pleaded guilty to theft at North West London Magistrates’ Court on Monday 10 October and was sentenced to 12 weeks’ imprisonment.
