Curly whiskers have helped a Brighton man win national glory at the British Beard and Moustache Championships.
Paul Lewis, an engineer from Warleigh Road, Brighton, took first place at the biennial event, this year hosted by the Liverbeards in Liverpool.
The 45-year-old married father of one has form as in 2007 he won the same category at the World Beard and Moustache Championships when it was held at Brighton Centre.
Back in 2012 he took third place at the first British Championships when it took place at the Corn Exchange in Brighton.
He first grew his moustache as a bet 15 years ago and joined the Handlebar Club nine years ago when he had the required graspable extremity.
Mr Lewis said: “Competitions are great fun as most of us are friends so it’s a great excuse to have a good time. Coming home with a prize is just a bonus.
“I was surprised when I heard my name called as I didn’t place at the last championships.”
