A moonlit dip inadvertently sparked panic this evening when passers by mistook a sea swimmer for something more worrying.
Police were called after a woman was seen entering the waves by the Palace Pier shortly after 9pm.
The police helicopter was up above central Brighton from 10pm onwards.
But the woman was later found safe and well and it was established she had simply gone for a swim – lasting more than two hours.
A police spokeswoman said: “We did have an incident just after 9pm.
“A female was seen walking into the sea by Madeira Drive near the pier.
“We have located her – she was just out for a swim and she’s safe and well and there’s no concerns for her at all.”
I bet that swim was BLISS.
