Another tranche of Southern services is to be reinstated next week – but these do not include many Brighton services which may not be restored for several weeks yet.
The full timetable from Tonbridge and Reigate to Redhill and London Victoria/London Bridge will run from next Monday (19 September). This will also see the full service between Redhill and London restored.
The two routes which remain affected are Coastway West, with most direct services between Brighton and Southampton not running, and Coastway East, with no trains from Brighton to Seaford and buses between Lewes and Seaford.
A full Southern timetable is now scheduled from Brighton to Victoria, but some Gatwick Express services are still off the schedule.
A Southern spokesman said: “Services are being reinstated as and when we have confidence that we can deliver them.
“We are intending to reinstate hourly services at Seaford towards the end of the month and we are working towards full restoration of the timetable towards the end of October. This is our intention which we hope to deliver on and confirm in the coming weeks.
“We have a team of people working full time on restoring services and have now brought back half the trains that were taken out on 11 July. The remainder will follow, as we said, in the coming weeks.”
