Three Brighton cyclists have cycled from Land’s End to John O’Groats to raise money for the Rockinghorse children’s charity.
Cally Burgess, 37, Stuart Burgess, 38, and High Salter, 37, all from Brighton were part of a team of five riding the 1,000 miles across Britain.
The team took 15 days and raised £3,170 for the Brighton-based children’s charity.
The sponsorship money will be distributed among Rockinghorse’s many projects across Sussex and Surrey, which consist of both children’s hospitals and respite centres.
Cally said: “It’s funny looking back now. Personally, it feels like a bit of a blur!
“It was an amazing experience. It certainly had some ups and downs – physically and emotionally.
“A mutual friend planted the Land’s End to John O’Groats cycle seed the summer before.
“Once we decided to do it that was it – full steam ahead.
“My job was to find a charity that we wanted to cycle for.
“Rockinghorse was the obvious choice for me because I really wanted us to cycle for a local charity.
“We wanted to feel like what we were doing would mean something to at least one person or family.
“It sounds clichéd but when I was on a long slog uphill either in the driving rain or beating sunshine, it gave me spare legs.
“I won’t say that it was always a breeze but it gave us all such a sense of achievement.”
Emma Millar, Rockinghorse challenge events fundraiser, said: “It’s so great to see people motivated to set their own challenges for the charity.
“A huge congratulations to the team for this amazing accomplishment.”
The Brighton trio were joined on their ride by Brendan and Lynne Richards, both 37, and from Surbiton in Surrey.
