Witnesses are being sought to a high speed police chase through Brighton streets which ended when the driver abandoned his car by Queens Park.
Brighton and Hove News reported that man was in custody following the pursuit on Sunday, 8 May. He has now been released on police bail, and police are asking for more witnesses to the incident to come forward.
The chase began at about 6.20pm when a silver BMW failed to stop for police officers who saw it being driven at speeds of more than 50mph in a 20mph area in the Firle Road and Freshfield Road areas of the city.
The vehicle stopped in East Drive shortly afterwards and the occupants went into Queens Park where officers arrested a man on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving with excess alcohol, and failing to stop for police.
After being interviewed he was released on bail until 22 June while enquiries continue.
