A 41-year-old man was attacked with a hammer and had to treated for a head injury in hospital.
Four men and two women have been arrested since the attack which was part of a brawl at a squat in the Roedean area of Brighton.
The fight broke out at an empty property in The Cliff, Roedean, at about 6.20pm yesterday (Sunday 12 December).
The 41-year-old man – frm Portslade – was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton after being hit on the head and hand.
He was released after treatment.
A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) and affray.
A man aged 43 was arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill.
Two men aged 30 and 35 and a woman of 20 were arrested on suspicion of affray.
And a 39-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of obstructing police.
Detective Sergeant Helen Paine said: “Officers responded quickly to stop the disorder and to arrest those involved.
“The incident is now under investigation.”
Late this afternoon Sussex Police said that all the suspects remained in custody.
Inspector Andrew Fleming, of the Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We are in conversation with the owner of the property and are looking at ways of resolving the issues that it currently causes in the area.”
