A bus and car have crashed on the A27 at Falmer causing a five-mile tailback during the rush hour this morning (Thursday 18 February).
The Highways Agency said that the accident happened at Falmer Hill when a car hit a dip in the road and the driver lost control.
The car, which was heading towards Brighton, ended up facing the wrong way.
Sussex Police and East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were at the scene.
The Highways Agency said: “The lane closures have now been lifted but bits of debris might be in the road.”
Queues remained on the A27 from Lewes and the B2123 Drove Road from Woodingdean and drivers were warned to expect delays.
