A man arrested in connection with a hit and run in Brighton which left a Hove father with serious head injuries has been released on police bail.
The 31-year-old from Brighton was held on suspicion of driving a vehicle dangerously, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, aggravated vehicle taking, failing to stop at the scene of an road accident, driving without a licence or insurance and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
He was arrested yesterday – after hiding on a roof in Donald Hall Road – as a direct result of an appeal by Sussex Police, which released CCTV footage showing Andy Payne being thrown several feet into the air when he was hit in Montague Road, Kemp Town, on 14 July.
The suspect has been bailed until April 3 while investigations continue.
A 56-year-old woman, also from Brighton, was arrested yesterday on suspicion of perverting the course of justice and has also been released on police bail.
