A woman was attacked as she stepped off a number 2 bus in broad daylight in the centre of Hove.
The 49-year-old woman was attacked at around 4pm last Friday (23 October) at the junction of Church Road and Tisbury Road.
A man barged into the woman as she got off the bus, knocking her to the ground. He then punched her in the chest.
The man said something to the woman which she did not hear as she was wearing headphones and listening to music when the attack happened.
The offender was white, 5ft 9in, in his mid fifties, of medium build and with scruffy grey hair. He was wearing a short beige jacket, over a white shirt, and jeans.
PC Vicky McDonald, of the Brighton response investigation team, said: “The woman was understandably left shocked and in pain from this assault.
“There were lots of pedestrians about and people driving past and it was still daylight. I would urge anyone who saw what happened to come forward.”
