A motorcyclist has died after crashing with a tractor and trailer on the A27 outside Brighton yesterday evening (Thursday 6 August).
The 31-year-old was riding a Kawasaki and heading towards the Lewes bypass when the accident happened by the Ashcombe roundabout at Kingston at about 6.30pm.
Sussex Police asked for any witnesses to come forward.
The force said: “Police are appealing for witnesses to a crash on the A27 at Ashcombe, near Lewes, in which a motorcyclist died after colliding with a tractor and trailer.
“It happened at around 6.30pm on Thursday (6 August) just prior to the Ashcombe roundabout.
“The motorcyclist, a 31-year-old man riding a Kawasaki, was travelling east. He suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The driver of the JCB Backhoe tractor, aged 20, was shocked but uninjured.
“The A27 eastbound was closed for five hours between Falmer and Lewes while emergency services were at the scene, and traffic was diverted via Rottingdean, Newhaven and Beddingham.”
