An office provider is offering free access to its business lounge to Brighton commuters wanting to avoid Thursday’s tube strike.
Regus is giving anyone who can’t work in their normal location access to space and facilities at its centre in Queensberry House in Queen’s Road.
The lounge has professional workspace, wifi and complementary refreshments, and Regus says it expects demand to be high.
And it’s also hoping that giving customers a free taste of what’s on offer, they might come back as paying customers in the future.
Richard Morris, Regus’s UK CEO, said: “Working from home is not convenient for everyone. Most people prefer to leave the house and work in a more productive environment.”
“The tube strikes don’t have to mean lost productivity, but they are a wake-up call for employers who haven’t adopted flexible working and addressed the practical challenges.”
Last month, a survey of 1,000 City workers by recruitment firm Astbury Marsden found that half were able to work from home.
Regus says it is experiencing month-on-month growth in Businessworld membership, as employers turn to part-time and drop-in workspace to accommodate a distributed workforce.
